Membership

Who Can Join?

Membership is open to any person who wishes to join our organization; however, different membership categories are available to accommodate different people.

REGULAR
Open to all sworn first responders (active law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics & EMTs) of the Jewish Faith.  Retired membership is available subject to certain criteria. Regular members are welcome at all our regular meetings and events and may vote on issues brought before the membership.

ASSOCIATE
Open to non-sworn individuals of the Jewish Faith involved in the criminal justice system such as Judges, State's Attorneys, and Public Defenders. Associate members are welcome at all our regular meetings and events.

HONORARY
Open to any individual of any faith not directly involved in law enforcement or the criminal justice system who wishes to support our efforts. Honorary members are welcome at all our regular meetings and events.
 

How Can You Become a Member of The Shomrim Society of Illinois?

Submit a completed membership application along with dues. It is important that you fill the form out and list a beneficiary as we do have a death benefit and without knowing who your beneficiary may be, we will not be able to give the benefit to your family member or other named person. PLEASE NOTE: The death benefit is only available to regular, regular retired, or lifetime regular members at this time. In addition, since we communicate these days by email, please be sure to include a current email address on the form.

You may pay your membership dues by going to the "membership application page." Just hit the tab under this page. We have not raised our dues for any category of membership in over 35 years, yet we have been able to raise our death benefit four times since our inception in 1959.

PLEASE NOTE: Regular or Retired members age 75 or above are no longer required to pay dues, however, please fill out and return your membership form to protect your benefits.

The Membership Application is a fillable form; please fill in all the boxes.  The application must be submitted yearly.
